i really like old music, and so i decided to post my personal top ten list on my blog. it was very difficult to choose the ten best songs, because there are sooooo many amazing songs from the 20th century, but i think the following ten songs are the best (its my personal opinion, so don't judge if you don't agree ;))

wie ihr vielleicht wisst, bin ich ein rieeeeesen fan von dem austro - amerikanischen singer/songwriter/musician james hersey. zurzeit verbringt er seine tage zwar in new york, er wird aber mitte dezember als supportact im wiener wuk auftreten. natürlich werde ich mir diese show nicht entgehen lassen, da ich jh schon zweimal live erlebt habe und ich beide male ziemlich begeistert war. desweiteren hat james gestern einen neuen song + video veröffentlicht, in welchem er wie sooft seine äußerst authentische stimme mit dem klang seiner gitarre kombiniert - das besondere an diesem song ist wohl die ergänzung mit dem saxophon, was dem ganzen noch einen weiteren souligen/groovigen touch verleiht. wie euch vielleicht schon aufgefallen ist, lege ich sehr viel wert auf musik mit (zumindest teilweisen) österreichischen wurzeln & genau deshalb möchte ich seinen neuen song 'it ain't over' hier mal ein bisschen promoten :)

today i want to introduce you to an amazing austrian dj duo - they are called Kruder & Dorfmeister and consist of the viennese musicians Peter Kruder und Richard Dorfmeister. Kruder & Dorfmeister are one of the most famous artists in austria and are also very successful outside of Europe. their musical style ranges from downtempo and dub over electronica until trip hop. i really like their music and also appreciate their many remixes (madonna, depeche mode etc...). if you are from austria, you definitely have to know them and i think they also have a big potential to be better known worldwide.

well, i just realized that there are just two months left until christmas. sooooo looking forward to it. awww. but right now i am so busy to plan my halloween party. in the beginning i just wanted to invite ten people - just watch a horror movie and relax, but now there are about 25 people invited. huuui. so excited, but i am convinced that the party is going to be pretty cool! hope you are looking forward to halloween so much like me.

heute möchte ich euch kurz jemanden vorstellen, dessen existenz, taten und sichtweise mich sehr bewegt haben. sein name ist christopher mccandless (also known as 'Alexander Supertramp'). vielleicht habt ihr schon mal von ihm gehört, von seiner emotionalen geschichte. wenn nicht, werde ich euch in diesem blogeintrag einen teil seiner story ans herz legen.

mccandless wurde als sohn von reichen nasa-mitarbeitern geboren, und hatte deren materiellen überfluß bald satt. so machte er es sich zum ziel, sich von ihnen und der gesamten zivilisation abzusetzen und nach alaska zu trampen. er informierte niemanden über sein vorhaben und zog zwei jahre lang quer durch nordamerika, bis er schließlich im großen, weißen norden ankam. aufgrund seiner nicht ausreichenden kenntnisse über die natur und deren gefahren fiel er bald der macht der ungewissheit & der unerbittlichen kälte zum opfer. obwohl viele leute christopher mccandless als leichtsinnig und naiv abstempeln, bin ich trotzdem ziemlich begeistert über seinen mut und seine entschlossenheit, die ihn dazu bewegt haben seinem ziel nachzugehen. es mag vielleicht stimmen, dass er sich zu wenig darauf vorbereitet hatte und die ganze sache auf die leichte schulter genommen hatte, aber ich finde seine story trotzdem ziemlich beeindruckend und stehe vollkommen hinter seiner sichtweise, in bezug auf die tatsache, dass viele menschen von geld blind werden, und die familie und das eigentliche 'leben' viel zu wenig schätzen. ich finde es großartig, dass er eben gerade auch aus einer art provokation oder protest sein ganzes vermögen an hilfsorganisationen gespendet hat, und sein anderes ersparnis und seine ganzen ausweise einfach verbrannt hat. es gibt wahnsinnig viel literarisches über mccandless, und ich kann euch auf jeden fall das buch von john krakauer 'into the wild' empfehlen. man erfährt viele details über chris, aber es werden auch noch situationen anderer aussteiger angesprochen - ein sehr bewegendes und fesselndes buch! neben dem buch gibt es auch noch einen wahnsinnig tollen, gleichnamigen film, der wirklich gut umgesetzt wurde, und in dem teilweise auch total rührende szenen dargestellt werden. im vergleich bietet das buch mehr offizielle fakten, der film vermittelt einem jedoch mehr, und man kann sich mccandless' reise besser vorstellen. ich würde euch raten, das buch zu lesen und den film anzusehen - sind beides wirklich gelungene werke! anbei findet ihr unten noch den trailer zum film und eine vorschau des buches!

good morning guys!
how are you? are you enjoying your weekend? well. i am :) autumn has finally arrived & it's raining all day. but who cares? i love rain. it was so unusual warm in the last few weeks; i think it had been too warm for this season. now it is about ten degrees outside and i kinda like that. so i am sitting here, listening to the good old beatles on the phonograph, drinking a few cups of black tea and thinking about the last few days. i had a great weekend. a friend of mine threw a party on friday night and it was really fun. many strange & amusing things happened, but we all enjoyed it and had a really great time. yesterday a few of my closest friends came over & we watched a movie. everyone was in a perfect mood and we talked about the party for hours.
i didn't sleep very much in the past few nights and i am a bit tired right now, so i am going to have a relaxed sunday at home. my parents aren't at home, so i will enjoy the silence around the house, pick up my guitar and play a few songs.
maybe i will make a short update of 'the beautiful city vienna' later. enjoy your sunday,
